October didn’t felt like Autumn, at all. We had a couple rainy days but the month was mostly sunny and warm. Last weekend I even went for a walk at the beach wearing short sleeves. I’m not complaining – it was so lovely to feel the warmth on my bare arms – but this doesn’t feel right. I bought a pair of booties and a few sweaters that I’m looking forward to finally wear. I’m ready for colder yet sunny days and Sundays by the fireplace while it’s raining outside.
October Recap.

1. Attempt the 30 Days of Yoga challenge.
This month I attempted the 30 Days of Yoga challenge by Yoga with Adriene. The first three weeks of October went pretty well and it felt lovely to exercise my body and mind. When I wasn’t in the mood for a 30 min class, I would do a 10-min yoga in bed class which always helped relax before sleep. But then things took a different turn last week. I’m determined to keep this practice in November, though.
2. Complete an InDesign course for beginners.
I am proud to say that I completed the InDesign Essential Training course at Skillshare. The classes were so interesting and easy to follow and I really enjoyed learning how to design flyers, magazine spreads, and business cards.
3. Work on some exciting design projects.
I was hoping to reveal all about this project in early November but unfortunately, I didn’t finish it on time. I did work on it, though, and the first part is completed. Fingers crossed, I will be able to share it later this month.
4. Get a haircut.
I got a haircut in early October and I’m very happy with the result. My hair was getting too long and flat for my taste so I decided to go back to my long bob. It has gained a bit of volume and it is so much easier to style!
5. Bake a batch of cinnamon rolls.
Another goal accomplished! I followed this recipe by Laura in the Kitchen and they turned out so delicious. It is the perfect treat to bake this time of the year, the whole house smelled wonderful and I couldn’t resist eating one while it was still warm. Kind of wish I had one right now!
November Goals.

1. Have the best time in Italy.
As soon as I publish this blog post, I’ll start packing as tomorrow morning I’m heading to Italy for four days, split between Rome and Milan. I plan on wandering the beautiful streets, visiting museums and eating tons of pizza + gelato. Of course, I will take my camera with me to take a bunch of photographs and film a few clips of the trip.
2. Throw my grandma a small birthday party.
My grandma is turning 80 this month so we are planning on throwing her a small birthday party at home. My aunt and uncle are coming all the way from Brussels for the big day and we are getting her a few presents and a birthday cake to celebrate.
3. Have a blog makeover.
If you’ve been following Notes from Joana since the very beginning, you might know that I like to change things up a bit once in a while. As the blog is about to celebrate three years this December, I thought it was the perfect time for a little makeover.
4. Declutter my closet.
This is long overdue. I really need to go through my stuff and get rid of everything I no longer want or need and is just taking up space in my closet. After I’m done, I’m planning on putting some things aside to sell online. It can be a great opportunity to make some extra money with things I no longer wear.
5. Start Christmas shopping.
This will be the year that I will start Christmas shopping early. I usually leave it to the last minute which usually involves a lot of stress and extremely busy stores. I want to be more mindful when shopping for loved ones and really enjoy this wonderful time of the year instead of rushing around.
