Happy New Year, everyone! I’m a bit late to the party, I know. I’ll be honest, it was a bit hard to go back to work a couple of weeks ago after taking so much time off over the holidays. I needed some time to adjust and get back into the swing of things before I could sit down and think about my goals for the new year. But what better way to kick off 2019 here on the blog than with some goals?
My Goals For 2019
1. Practice self-kindness.
One of my main focus for 2019 is to practice self-kindness. I’ve noticed that I can be really hard on myself sometimes and say things to myself that I would NEVER say to anyone else. Anyone else? So, my main focus this year is to work on my self-talk by being aware of any negative, harsh comments and replace them with more positive and kind ones. Practicing self-kindness also means to make self-care a priority as you can’t really pour from an empty cup, can you? Also, I need to give myself more grace when I mess up or fail and remind myself that that’s OK.
2. Be more active.
The typical New Year’s resolution, isn’t it? Lately, I’ve been feeling lazy, unhealthy, and anxious. It shouldn’t come as a surprise considering I work all day in front of a computer screen and rarely move.
I’m not going to set myself up to failure by saying I will work out every single day. I know that won’t happen. Instead, I want to make an effort to move every day, to use the stairs instead of the elevator, to get outside more. I want to feel more active, energized and healthy by finding a workout routine that I actually enjoy. And in order to figure out what I like the most, I actually need to try different things, such as yoga, BBG, boxing, and running. It’s time to stop making excuses and make it a priority.
3. Save more.
I used to be really good at saving when I first started working as my parents taught me how to be responsible with money from a very young age. But over the last year or so, my budget kind of went a little out of hand. That said, I want to save more and be more mindful about my spending.

4. Spend less time online.
Another goal of mine for this year is to limit my screen time and I’m happy to say this is actually something that I already started doing at the end of 2018. I used to waste so much time mindlessly scrolling on social media before bed or first thing in the morning and I’ve been trying to avoid that as it often made me feel stressed. Instead of staying glued to my laptop or phone, I want to read more, take more photos, and find a new hobby.
Related to that, I also want to do an unfollow session more often and create a more positive feed. It’s time to unfollow anyone who makes me compare too much or makes me feel not good enough, and only follow those who actually inspire me. And maybe even do a little digital detox one of these days.
5. Create a positive morning routine.
Again, this is something I already started doing at the end of last year but I want to make it more consistent. I love waking up early and have some me time before work without rushing but don’t get me wrong, it’s SO hard to get out of bed, especially when it’s still so dark and cold out. However, when I do get out of under the covers and follow a positive routine, it always helps me start the day on a happier note. Here’s my ideal morning routine that I would love to stick to:
- drink one cup of lemon water first thing in the morning
- keep a gratitude journal and write down at least three things I’m thankful for
- do a devotional or 10 minutes of meditation
- eat breakfast while watching a YouTube video
- actually get ready for the day
6. Work on my relationships.
This is probably one of my scariest goals but I believe it’s important to include it because despite the fact that I am a big introvert and love being alone, as a human being I need connection. It’s not only important to work on my relationship with myself – as I’ve mentioned in my first goal – but also to work on my relationship with others. I want to make an effort to strengthen my relationships with family and friends by, for instance, taking the initiative to call them every now and then instead of waiting for them to call me. I want to get outside of my comfort zone and meet new people and I don’t know, maybe a boyfriend?
7. Grow my blog.
2018 was not a very good year for my blog as it was in pause mode for many many months. In 2019, I want to dedicate more time to it. I want to post consistently (and by that I mean at least once a week) and focus on wellness but also share other topics I love, such as recipes, beauty, home decor, books, and travel. I want to stop worrying so much if every single post is perfect, relevant, helpful and worthy of being published. I want to stop being such a perfectionist because that has seriously damaged my passion for this little space on the Internet and share more of me and more of what I love.
Also, one of my goals for 2018 was to start a Youtube channel but I didn’t ever feel brave enough to do it. It’s so scary, you guys but this is something I really want to pursue in the new year. 🤞🏼
8. Launch a product.
In 2019 I want to launch something very close to my heart and that I’ve been working on for a while. I’m setting my intention out there in the hopes that it will come true this year. I’m sorry for being so secretive about it but you know when you want to share something that brings you so much joy with the world but at the same time are afraid to jinx it? That’s me.
Here’s to a wonderful 2019!
What are your goals for 2019?

These are some really beautiful goals for the year ahead. Spending less time online is also a big one for me. I work online and have my blog, so a big part of my life is already ‘online’ by necessity. But I spend so many hours a week online that I could spend with a good book or outside in nature. I’m am definitely with you on that goal! <3
