Happy New Year! I hope you had an amazing start of 2018 and are feeling motivated to embrace the magic of new beginnings. As cliché as it sounds, I always enjoy setting a few goals for the new year. The thing is that I often set myself up for failure with too many – and probably unrealistic – goals or even goals that don’t truly resonate with who I am or where I want to be.
That’s why I created the 2018 Goal Setting Workbook with all the steps we need to take in order to set intentional goals and achieve them in the new year. After filling in the workbook I ended up with a few things I want to reach by the end of 2018. And that’s what I’m sharing with you today as I feel like writing my goals here on the blog is a way to keep myself accountable. So let’s move on to my goals for 2018!
My Personal & Professional Goals For 2018

Be kinder to myself.
In 2018 I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and say yes more often. I’m constantly scared of what might happen or what others will think and I’m honestly so done with that. I want to push aside anxiety and fear and go after what I really want. But to do that, I really need to work on my self-talk as I can be my worst critic. I want to be kinder to myself and believe that I can do whatever I set my mind to. At the same time, I want to remind myself that it’s okay to not do it all and to cut myself some slack. This means not feeling guilty of taking time to rest and lots of self-care.
Read fifteen books.
I spend way too much time in front of computer screen and while the Internet is a very cool thing, we all need to switch off every now and then. With that in mind, I want to read fifteen books this year. Although it’s something I really enjoy doing, I don’t often make time for it.
Start a Youtube channel.
Because of my fear of what others will think, I’ve been putting off this goal for the last 5 years! But I’m committed to making 2018 the year I finally do it. I would like it to be a mix of vlogs and sit down videos, similar to what I do here on the blog. The thing is, I’m thinking of doing it in Portuguese. For those of you who don’t know, I am from Portugal so English is not my first language. While I feel comfortable writing and listening in English, I’m not as comfortable speaking. But I haven’t made up my mind yet so I would really appreciate your input on this.
Create a workout routine.
This is the typical New Year’s resolution, isn’t it? In 2018 I want to create a workout routine to help me stay in shape and feel better about myself, not only in terms of looks but mainly for my health. I’m not sure if I should join a gym or attempt to do it at home with the help of Youtube videos but I’ll figure it out. I also want to get back into yoga and be more consistent with it!
Restart a gratitude journal.
This is a habit that I kept for about a year but stopped it once my Five Minute Journal came to an end. I’m not sure why I didn’t start writing in a simple notebook instead because that practice really had a positive impact on my well-being and that’s why this year I want to start doing it again.
Start a daily meditation practice.
Another thing that I want to get back into is meditation. It’s something that I’ve done in the past and I believe it can benefit me and bring some clarity to my life, which is a bit all over the place at the moment.
Get a tattoo.
I’ve been wanting to get a small and meaningful tattoo for ages and as this is the year that I turn 25 (!!), I think it’s the perfect time to do it.
Keep growing my blog.
At the end of last year, I saw an amazing growth on my blog and I really hope it keeps growing in 2018. It has been lovely to finally see the results of my work after three years of on and off blogging. So this year I want to keep improving my content and photography and maybe even start working with brands and making a side income, who knows? I also want to keep up with my weekly newsletter and create more of a community online.
Launch a blog photography course.
I’ve been playing with the idea of creating a course to help lifestyle bloggers improve their photography for quite some time and I really want to launch it this year – maybe even this month! That being said, I would love to know what’s your biggest struggle when it comes to blog photography + would this be something you would be interested in? I would love to hear from you!
Launch my stationery business.
As a huge stationery lover, I’ve been dreaming about designing my own collection of paper goodies for years. I’m just going to start with one little thing and see how it works. It is pretty much designed but I’ve been procrastinating on it thanks to the impostor syndrome. *fingers crossed* it will see the light of the day in 2018!

I recommend trying the iSmart.Life app. I use this app to planing my goals, tasks and projects. They have a demo and you can understand whether it suits you or not. This is a free and very convenient web app. Everything is very simple and convenient…
I will look into it, thank you! 🙂
Your goals are amazing! I cant wait to see you execute them. Keep up the great work 🙂
Thank you so much!! 🙂 x
Congratulations on setting goals AND writing them down! I’m a firm believer that writing things down makes such a huge difference in the outcome.
I noticed we share similar goals too. I have a toddler, so I need to schedule a workout routine that I can actually follow. AND I’ve jumped into the deep end – YouTube! Terrifying, but I’m hopeful that it will also be immensely gratifying. For you and I both!
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you!
Same here! I actually am starting an in home workout routine next week! Let’s see what the toddler thinks about that. 😀 Maybe we can hold each other accountable???
And yes to being kinder to myself! That and self care/love overall is a big goal of mine for 2018!
I hope you can hold each other accountable when it comes to working out with a toddler! I can only imagine how challenging that must be 🙂 But you both can do this!
And yes! I really want to work on kindness this year – it is much needed! Happy 2018 🙂
Thank you, Megan!! I agree with you, writing makes your goals feel more real in a way.
I’m sure getting into a workout routine with a toddler around is even trickier. But you can do this! 🙂 As for YouTube, I’m happy you decided to start even though it was terrifying, that really is an inspiration for me to start mine. Happy and healthy 2018 to you, too! x
These are some amazing goals! The photography course sounds a great idea and something you could really get stuck into. I always struggle with making my photos varied. Best of luck with them all xx

Thank you so much, Lauren 🙂 x
I would love for you to have a YouTube channel. I would definitely subscribe. Either Portuguese or English, I don’t mind – I’ll understand both (também sou Portuguesa! :D).
Also would definitely enroll in on of your photography courses. You blog photos are always stunning. I struggle to take photos of myself without any help. I have the remote and all those things but it’s so hard to get it right. Also, would love to know a bit more of how to shoot with bad lighting (accessories we can use to help with that or even going a bit in depth on how to use manual mode).
Can’t wait for all your big projects this year. x
Boa sorte com todos os teus planos! Espero que 2018 seja um ano em grande, sei que tens todo o potencial para ir sempre mais longe. Beijinhos **
The Lisa’s World
Aww muito obrigada Lisa!! Soube tão bem ler o teu comentário 🙂 Espero que o teu 2018 também te traga muitas coisas boas!! Beijinhos
Wow, all of your goals are things I can relate to. All of these goals posts seem to be doing that to me. I’d love to see a blog photography course! Would be extremely helpful. And I’d love to hear how the being kinder to yourself goal works out and any tips you may find as I struggle with that as well!
Loving your blog.
Thank you so much, Jay!! That means a lot!
Sure, I’ll probably share my journey along the way so keep an eye out for that 🙂 x
