I might sound like a broken record but I can’t quite believe it’s almost the middle of April already! Which means it’s time for another late monthly recap. March was a busy month at work but it was still pretty good one overall. Spring started, I discover a new tv show that I binge-watched in a weekend, celebrated my best friend’s birthday, and finally printed some photos.
1. Hello Spring!
It feels weird to be writing about the beginning of Spring when, at the moment, it’s cold and rainy outside. I actually woke up today at 6 AM because the rain and thunders were SO loud Can’t really complain though as we had some amazing days earlier in the month. Anyway, the beginning of Spring brings me so much joy! It’s lovely to see the trees blooming everywhere and I cannot wait to stop wearing sweaters and jackets.
2. Movies watched.
At the beginning of March, I watched Isn’t It Romantic and Second Act, both really good.
Isn’t It Romantic, with Rebel Wilson, is a feel-good romantic comedy but with a twist. Rebel sees herself stuck in a romantic comedy, something that she so often mocked about. Who never mocked about how cheesy a movie is but *secretly* wishes to bump into the right guy and live happily ever after?
Second Act, with Jennifer Lopez, is more than a rom-com and I love the message behind it: wanting to be someone else and wishing for different life without realizing who you are and the life you have is already good enough.
3. TV shows watched.
As for tv shows, my current favorites are Grace & Frankie and Coisa Mais Linda. I’ve been meaning to watch Grace & Frankie for a long time but was unsure I would like it. It’s actually really good and SO funny! It features Jane Fonda (one of my favorite actresses) and Lily Tomlin. They become friends after their husbands announce they’re in love with each other and plan to get married.
Coisa Mais Linda is a Brazilian tv show that premiered at the end of March and I watched the first season in a weekend. To my defense, there are only 7 episodes. It follows the story of Malu who, after her husband disappears with her money, moves to Rio de Janeiro to follow her dream of opening a live music club despite her lack of money and her father’s disapproval. It’s about self-discovery, following your dreams, and the emancipation of women in the late 1950s. Also, I LOVE the style and it’s funny how you can see some of the pieces that are now back on trend.
4. Bestie’s birthday.
My best friend celebrated her 26 (!) birthday in March – we’ve known each other since middle school and are still good friends now in our mid-twenties. She had the most beautiful birthday cake with natural flowers!
5. Printing photos.
I finally printed some photos to put on a couple of frames I had bought months and months ago and it was lovely to see some of my fave pictures around my bedroom. This has made me want to print more and display them either on frames or in an album. We have loads of photo albums from when I was little but technology made us stop doing it and now photos are kept hidden in an external drive or on my phone.
6. A new lamp shade.
One of my favorite purchases this month was a new lampshade and a mug from Anthropologie. Well, technically I believe I bought it on sale in February but it arrived early March. I’ve been buying a few pieces in the last few months to update my bedroom decor and I’m very pleased with how it’s coming together. Might share a few pictures soon here on the blog or on Instagram.
I realize this probably isn’t very interesting to you ahah but I thought I would include it anyway.
7. Learning how to use Procreate.
Ever since I got an iPad, I’ve been having fun playing around with Procreate to create some graphics such as this one. It has been a lot of trial and error though and it can make me feel a bit frustrated. I want to be good at everything immediately but I do know that getting good at something takes time and that I need to be more patient.
8. Coconut and chocolate oatmeal cookies.
Yes, they taste as good as they sound It might sound like “too much” but the combination of all these flavors is SO delicious! I follow this recipe by Foodess and they’re always a hit. My dad even said, “you should make these more often”.
9. Favorite music.
As for music, in March I LOVED Needtobreathe. This acoustic playlist has been playing on repeat while I work.
10. Busy month at work.
I realized that I have a love/hate relationship with being busy with work. It stresses me out so bad but it also makes me more motivated and productive to get things done. And because I’ve been so busy at work, these last few weeks seem to have flown by.
11. A trip to Ikea.
One more month, one more trip to Ikea. The highlight was eating a cinnamon bun and the most delicious fresh orange juice. It’s the little things, you guys.
12. A favorite on Notes from Joana.
How To Be Ok With Where You Are Right Now was one of the articles that I liked to write the most. It was actually quite therapeutic and you guys seemed to like it too. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s about finding contentment where you are in life right now.
How was your March?
