October was a month of change and transition for me – I wrote a life update last week in case you need to catch up on what’s been going on. I’ve been splitting my time between applying for jobs, working on my blog and on a secret project, which is keeping my sanity. I’m not saying I’m happy with my current situation by any means but, on the positive side, it has allowed me to recharge my batteries – which was long-overdue – and dedicate time to blogging. And for that, I am grateful.
That being said, I’m here today to share with you five things I’m grateful for in October. This blog post has been a joy to write each month. Every time I start writing, I panic for a couple of minutes feeling like nothing special happened during the month so I won’t have anything interesting to share with you. But then I remind myself to focus on the little things. I can’t visit someplace new or jump out of an airplane (I actually never did it) every month. So it’s all about taking time to appreciate not only the big but also the little moments of happiness.
Five Things I’m Grateful In October
Finishing the first season of Gilmore Girls.
I don’t really know why it took me so long to start watching Gilmore Girls but it has quickly become one of my favorite tv shows. I finished watching the first season last weekend and I’m now a couple of episodes into the second one. I love the storyline, the relationship between Lorelai and Rory, and their sense of humor is so on point – it always puts me in a good mood!
Catching up with the girls from uni.
As I’ve said on Twitter, even though we don’t see each other very often (different cities + different schedules), it always seems like nothing has changed. We caught up with what everyone was doing, chatted about plans for the future and realized it has been three years since we left uni – time flies, even faster as an adult!
Working on Notes from Joana.
I’ve been able to dedicate more time to my blog this month and it’s lovely to see the results coming from it. I used to write a blog post, share it on Pinterest and send out a tweet once a week. That was it. For some reason, it felt weird to promote my content. But then I realized that if I wanted to grow my blog, I shouldn’t be afraid to share it. People don’t spend their full days on social media so the chances of them seeing my weekly tweet are very limited. Now, I’ve been sharing my content on social media more often and the effort is paying off which makes me so happy!
Buying my first pair of boots of the season.
In the beginning of October, I bought the most beautiful pair of ankle booties from a local boutique here in my hometown. As they were a bit on the pricier side, I walked by the shop a few times before convincing myself that I needed them in my life. It felt lovely to splurge on something for myself after a stressful week.
A trip to IKEA with the parents.
This weekend my parents and I went on a trip to IKEA. It included walking around daydreaming about room makeovers, delicious meatballs for lunch and a cinnamon roll for dessert. We then drove home by the coast with a little stop for a walk at the beach. It was a beautiful, sunny day that felt like Summer. I’m now ready for Fall, please.
