Exactly a year ago I started my blog. It feels like only yesterday that I decided to get back to blogging after more than six months away and launch Notes from Joana. Looking back, I feel proud of my blog’s growth. I learned some new cool skills, met wonderful people and have a space to ramble about everything I enjoy!
Let me tell you something you probably don’t know about Notes from Joana: not many people know that I have a blog.
After keeping it a secret for about six months, I told my parents because, since I live with them, it was starting to get a bit difficult to hide. I also include it on my resumé because I feel like it’s important in my field but I haven’t personally told anyone else. I do want to tell my closest friends/family as well but there’s something stopping me.
Not that I’m ashamed, I’m quite proud of my little blog, but I just worry a bit too much about what they will think. I guess that I will tell them when I’m ready + it’s quite nice to have a “secret” life haha.
The thing is, I’ve always been a shy and introverted girl who cares too much about what other people think, and starting this blog allowed me to find my voice.
I keep a lot of things to myself but, for some weird reason, I feel more comfortable sharing my random thoughts, dreams & insecurities on my blog than off the internet and that has been helping me a lot. I gained a little bit more confidence and more knowledge about myself, what I feel, what I like and what I want to do in the future.
It also allowed me to connect with like-minded people from all over the world and build a little community. It made me realize “I’m not the only one” struggling with lack of confidence, being shy or life doubts. And because of that – I will try not to get too cheesy here – I want to thank each and everyone of you for visiting my blog, leaving a nice comment and for your love & support. It honestly means a lot to me, THANK YOU!
To end this celebratory blogpost, I thought it would be a good idea to do a little throwback and share with you some of the most popular posts on the blog + some of my personal favorites just in case you fancy a read!
