May was a very quiet month around here. I was feeling unmotivated and tired. I suppose it is that time of the year when holidays are getting close but seem so far away. As I was interning last year, I didn’t have any Summer holidays so it is now taking a toll on me. I am soo looking forward to having a few days off from work to relax, sunbathe and simply not worry about work.
That lack of motivation reflected on my will to blog. Also, May was kind of a fail when it comes to my goals. I even thought about not doing a May Recap so that I didn’t embarrass myself telling you guys I didn’t achieve any of my goals. But life happens and things don’t always go according to plan so I’m sharing it anyways.
1. Bring more personal posts to the blog.
I did manage to publish a blog post in the beginning of the month on some of my current favorite things – which I loved writing and will definitely do more frequently! But, as I’ve said, I wasn’t very inspired to write during the month and I’m sorry for those of you who came here looking for new content.
2. Save some money.
Why is that everytime I decide to save money is when pretty much everything looks appealing? I go to the stores and like a bunch of things, run out of some of my everyday beauty products, and can’t resist buying a croissant every now and then at work. Yes, saving money didn’t really happen.
3. Sell clothes I no longer wear.
This is the only thing I can justify since I should have thought if I would have time to actually take the stuff to the post office, which I clearly didn’t. Will definitely keep this goal in June/July as I’ll have some days off from work.
4. Don’t use my phone until after breakfast.
There were a few times throughout the month when I couldn’t fight the temptation to grab my phone and check social media. But I am a lot better at it so that is positive.
5. One touch.
The first half of the month was a success until it all went down the drain. But, it really is so much better to clean after yourself and have your room always tidy. So it is definitely a habit I want to keep this month.
1. Meditate daily.
I have set this goal multiple times before but always failed to accomplish it. The first few days go quite well until it starts getting uncomfortable and I stop doing it. But I want to give it another try. I recently discovered the Rituals app which gives you the option to pick a 5, 10, 15 or 20-minute meditation and I’m planning on starting with just five minutes per day. Open to hearing your advice or favorite apps to start a meditation practice.
2. Fall back in love with Instagram.
I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram. I love it as a platform to explore my creativity, connect with others and create a beautiful feed with memories. But at the same time, it brings out the perfectionist in me and can often make me feel quite jealous of some people’s highlight reel. But, at the same time, I know that we share what we want to share. Who would like to follow a feed where someone only posts sad pictures/moments, right? So, in June I’m making an effort to not overthink it and stop being such a perfectionist.
3. Spend more time with friends.
It can be tough to schedule time with friends as an adult. We all have different responsibilities now or are living in different cities and that makes it harder to meet up. But this month I want to make an effort to either call or see my friends in person.
4. Take more photos.
I finally managed to buy a new DSLR (since my old one got stolen back in the beginning of April) and I’ve been loving to play with my new toy. It even gave extra motivation to blog!
5. Soak up the sun.
I’m going on holiday at the end of June and I’m already counting down the days. I plan on doing nothing but enjoying the sun while reading a book, swimming in the sea and exploring with my parents without worrying about work.
What are your goals for June?
