June had some highs and lows. I started the month feeling very unmotivated, anxious and emotionally tired. The Summer holidays were coming but seemed so far away at the same time and I just needed a break. The much-needed break happened later in the month with a week off in the Algarve and it was exactly what I needed to recharge batteries.
I still have a couple of days before I go back to work so I’m enjoying being at home typing this blog post (and a few upcoming posts for July) from the comfort of my couch. So keep reading to discover a few things I’ve loved during the month of June.
Five Things I Loved In June
A week in the Algarve
By far, my favorite thing about June was going on holiday to the Algarve. As I was interning last Summer, I wasn’t able to take any days off from work which was a shame. So you can probably imagine how excited I was for finally being able to go on holiday. In the last week of June, my parents and I headed to the Algarve for a week in the sun. It was lovely not to worry about work while sunbathing, swimming in the pool, catching up in reading and discovering incredible beaches. For a whole week, my laptop was only opened once and it feel amazing!
June was the month I caught up in reading. As I went on holiday, I had more free time to finally get lost in a book for hours. One of those books was Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. While it might seem like the typical love story between a boy and a girl, it is a page turner full of little plot twists. Aside from the storyline, one of my favorite things about it is that it includes a play list with songs written by the characters, making the book even more interesting.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Body Lotion
Totally bought this after seeing Kate raving about it. As I was going on holiday, I needed something to nourish my dry legs who hadn’t seen the sun in two years. And it really is a dream – super hydrating, not tacky on the skin and with a wonderful smell!
Focus Keeper App
Have you ever heard about the Pomodoro technique? It’s all about doing one thing at a time and breaking down a task into short timed intervals of 25 minutes with a 5 minute break in-between. Focus Keeper is a productivity app that helps you do just that: work with time and not against it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much more motivated and productive I am while using the app so it’s definitely worth a try. I don’t use in my job though because I work for a company with its own schedule but I love using it while working on my blog.
My new camera
After my DSLR camera got stolen earlier this year, I decided to save up and upgrade to a better one. I searched for weeks for the best one I could afford and decided to pick the Canon 6D after finding a big deal online. It has been an absolute joy to play with it ever since I got it in the mail. During the months I didn’t have any camera I felt unmotivated to blog and it has been so nice seeing that inspiration come back as I experiment with it.
