Coming up with creative content for a blog is not always easy and I’m pretty sure every blogger gets stuck in a rut at some point. With the crazy amount of blogs out there, standing out can be quite the challenge and it only gets worse when comparison creeps up on us. We’re left feeling uninspired and lacking motivation.
I go through these phases quite often to be honest but lately I’ve been feeling really inspired to blog and stick to a schedule.
So I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips that work for me when it comes to overcoming a blogging rut. Hopefully, this can help some of you and I can always go back to this post whenever I’m lacking motivation.
How To Get Out Of A Blogging Rut
Write Every Idea You Have
Every time I get an idea for a blogpost, I write it down either on my notebook, laptop or phone, whatever is in hand. Yes, I can still get uninspired to blog, but then I know I won’t run out of ideas when I get my motivation back.
Search For Inspiration
When I’m feeling stuck, a quick stroll through my Bloglovin/Pinterest/Instagram/Tumblr feed can definitely boost my inspiration. I love reading other people’s content, it makes me feel motivated to work harder and improve my blog. And a pretty picture on Instagram or Tumblr can also help me to come up with a random idea for a post.
Remember Why You Started
If you’re feeling stuck because you think you have to talk about the same topics as other bloggers or follow a certain blog trend, think about why you started your blog in the first place. I personally started my blog as an outlet to share my interests with other people, talk about everything I enjoy and be able to be my true self. And sometimes all I need is to take a moment to remember the kind of posts I love writing the most instead of focusing on what others are doing.
Change Things Up A Bit
One of my favorite ways to refresh my motivation is to change something: the blog design, header, the topics I write about, my photography, etc. Try something different. Sometimes a small change can make you fall in love with blogging all over again. It’s almost like a fresh start.
It’s Okay To Take A Break
I know that if I force myself to write a blogpost, it won’t turn out as good as I would like it to be – I had to stop myself from publishing a couple of meh posts just for the sake of sticking to my schedule. So when I feel stuck, I like to take a break. It can take me a couple of hours to a few days to get my motivation back, but it’s okay. Sometimes all we need is a little break to come back refreshed and filled with new ideas.
